School Based Traineeship - Certificate II in Sport and Recreation (Gymnastics Coach)
The Hunter Sports Centre has partnered with Gymnastics NSW and the Australian Training Company to offer a formal training and employment opportunity for students who may desire a career in the Sport and Recreation Industry or related fields such as teaching, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, child care etc
The traineeship is a Certifiacte II qualification completed over a two year period while the student is completing year 11 and 12 and is done in cooperation with your school. The trainee is formally employed by the Australian Training Company and completes on the job training with the Centre. The Centre will only engage 2 trainees each year and applications must be received by August 1st of the year prior to entering year 11.
In general the Centre will accept 1 male and 1 female applicant each year however this may change depending the needs of the Centre at the time applications are under consideration.
The Hunter Sports Centre is the largest gymnastics club in Australia and is always looking for enthusiastic individauls to continue delivering the high standard of instruction that is expected from our participants. To be considered for (casual) employment, you must at the very minimum have a recognised and valid 1st Aid certificate and a current Gymnastics Australia coaching accreditation, you must also be prepared to undergo a child protection check. Gymnastics Instructors are also provided other employment opportunities in school holiday periods.

Birthday Party Instructor
Our Birthday Parties are very popular with many weekends catering for as many as 18 parties. We require happy, vibrient, enthusiastic party coaches who can play like a child while taking on the responsibility of an adult. Although our parties are based in our gymnastics hall and use gymnastics equipment, we do not require party staff to hold a gymnastics accrediation. On the job training specifically related to our bithday party program is provided. Party staff are also provided other employment opportunities in school holiday periods.
All party staff are required to have a recognised and valid 1st Aid certificate, be prepared to undergo a child protection check and have a great smile!

School Based Work Experience
The Centre is only able to take on School Based Work Experience students at certain periods of the year when the facility is in high demand and we are able to utilise a work experience student to ensure they receive the appropriate exposure to the working environment.
